McMillen Auger Drive for Skid Steer Loaders & Compact Track Loaders

The McMillen X Series Auger Drive is a heavy-duty, high-performance digging solution engineered for skid steer loaders and compact track loaders. Designed to tackle everything from light soil to hard, compacted, or frozen ground, McMillen auger drives deliver reliable torque, smooth operation, and long service life across a wide range of applications.

Built with a sealed planetary gear reduction and a rugged, all-gear design, X Series drive units are completely enclosed, with all moving components running in oil for constant lubrication. This design minimizes maintenance, reduces downtime, and ensures dependable performance in demanding conditions. With reverse rotation for quick back-out and a hydraulic relief valve to protect against damage when encountering obstructions, McMillen auger drives are made to work smarter and last longer. CE-certified models are also available.

Things to Consider Before Selecting an Auger Drive

  • Match the auger drive’s recommended GPM and pressure to your skid steer or compact track loader.

  • Larger model numbers provide more torque; smaller models offer higher operating speed within the recommended flow range.

  • For hard, compacted, or frozen soils, or when using larger auger bits (up to 36”), select a higher-torque model.

  • If speed and productivity are your priority and you’re using smaller bits, a smaller drive model can deliver faster digging cycles.

The McMillen Auger Drive is a proven choice for contractors, landscapers, and utility crews who demand durability, performance, and versatility from their digging equipment.

  • X Series drive units are completely sealed with all moving components running in oil for total lubrication on a constant basis
  • The X Series hydraulic motor drives the auger through a sealed planetary gear reduction
  • The heavy duty all gear design gives these units a long life with minimal maintenance and service costs
  • All models feature reverse rotation for quick back-out when obstructions are encountered
  • The systems’ hydraulic relief valve protects the units from damage when the auger hits large immovable object

Pay attention to the maximum bit size and flow ranges in the specification section of this attachment. The most common size drive ordered for medium frame and large frame standard flow skid steers and compact track loaders is the X1975. Keep in mind the PSI or pressure creates the torque and the flow GPM determines the speed the bit will turn.
